Easter

Rejoice, the Lord is king!
Your Lord and king adore;
mortals, give thanks and sing
and triumph evermore.
Lift up your heart,
lift up your voice; rejoice;
again, I say, rejoice!

Though perhaps not an Easter hymn per se, these lyrics have been running through my mind today, again and again.  After watching the sun rise over the mountain, we were greeted with a beautiful sunny day, clear and warm; reminiscent of spring Easter Sundays back at home.

Through friends of ours from our church back in Chapel Hill, we've met new friends here...David and Suzannah and their two children. We attended church with them this morning at Iglesia Bautista El Prado and were very warmly welcomed by their congregation. We also stayed for lunch and enjoyed meals of fried trucha (trout) and charque (dried, salted beef).

Sweet Eli, in his new (to us, thanks Kathy!) Easter shirt...

One of my most favorite church events of the entire year is the Easter morning worship service and potluck  at our church back at home, Chapel Hill Mennonite Fellowship.  We are missing our congregation and community today especially, but are grateful for new friends and places of worship, wherever we may be.  And, no matter where we are, we rejoice together: ¡Jesús de Nazaret ha resucitado!
